Imo news: Policeman shoots Okada rider dead for refusing to pay N50 for facemask offence.

A policeman at a checkpoint at Banana junction, Amaifeke in Orlu government Area of Imo State has allegedly shot a billboard bicycle operator, popularly referred to as Okada, for refusing to spare N50 bribe in situ of his offence of not wearing a facemask.

An eye witness who disclosed this to newsmen said the policeman had flagged down the Okada rider and demanded why he wasn't together with his facemask.

All plea by the commercial motorcyclists to permit him go fell on deaf ears consistent with the witness, rather the policeman was said to possess demanded N50 as a penalty to buy his offence.


But the motorcyclists refusal to spare the kickback and decided to runaway instead consistent with the witness earned him a bullet from behind by the trigger happy policeman .



He was said to possess died instantly before help could come his way while the policeman realising his action and consequences escaped from the scene.

However, all effort to succeed in the State Police Public Relation Officer, Orlando Ikeokwu, for confirmation and reaction was futile as he refused to answer several calls made to his telephone line .

Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to the continued trial of the suspended former acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu.

Speaking via the party official twitter handle, the party’s former Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabeena who extolled President Muhammadu Buhari’s fight against corruption said that Magu ‘trial was proof that there's no special treatment for anyone within the government’s fight against corruption.

##Magu Fails To Submit Audited Accounts For Four Years

Information gathered revealed that the suspended EFCC boss did not submit the audited accounts because the Senate refused to verify his appointment.

Ibrahim Magu, the suspended acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has did not submit the commission’s audited accounts to the National Assembly.

Information gathered revealed that the suspended EFCC boss did not submit the audited accounts because the Senate refused to verify his appointment.

By Section 37 of the establishment act, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment, ETC) Act 2004, the commission is required to submit its report, including its audit to the National Assembly per annum .

It states: “The Commission shall, not later than 30th September in annually , undergo the National Assembly, a report of its activities during the preceding year and shall include in such report the audited accounts of the Commission.”

However, despite the choice of the upper chamber to not confirm Magu because the Chairman of the anti-graft agency, EFCC was still required by the law to submit its annual accounts as done by Magu’s predecessors, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Mrs Farida Waziri and Mr Ibrahim Lamorde in compliance with the establishment Act.

The EFCC boss on Monday received the Presidential panel led Justice Ayo Salami for the continuation of the investigation of corruption allegations against him.
